Rune Bottleneck Route

Evaluate runes by the bottleneck they solve rather than rarity alone.

Quick answer

Keep runes that shorten your current wall: Oof flow, rebuild speed, tickets, or upgrade pacing.

Best for

  • Rune decisions
  • Mid-game routing
  • Players stuck after codes

Use this when

Use this route once runes are unlocked and a visible wall is slowing the run. The goal is not to keep the rarest-looking rune; it is to keep the rune that lowers the current wait time or makes repeated rebuilds cleaner.

Avoid this when

Avoid rerolling just because a rune name looks weaker than another. If your current rune is already helping Oof income, upgrade pacing, or rebuild speed, changing it without a test can make the route worse.

Example decision

If Rune Speed helps you reach the next upgrade faster than a luck-based effect, keep speed until the bottleneck changes. After the wall moves, run one short test before deciding whether a different rune now fits better.

Compare against

  • Early Oof Route
  • Prestige Readiness
  • Factory pacing
  • Upgrade cost reduction

Next steps

  1. Time one short run before rerolling.
  2. Choose the bottleneck in the calculator and compare the recommendation.
  3. Recheck rune value after Soldier Noob, Factory, or prestige changes the route.

Data caution

Avoid ranking unseen rune stats as official data.
